The Distinguished Alumni Award celebrates the contributions Crandall alumni make to their communities and professions. It recognizes truly outstanding accomplishments of Crandall’s alumni in their personal and professional lives. Each year’s recipient(s) are selected from nominations received from the alumni community.
For 2023, Crandall University is proud to be presenting Distinguished Alumni Awards to Rev. Dr. Stephen McMullin (‘76) and Rev. Gordon MacLeod (‘77).
Rev. Dr. Stephen McMullin (’76)
Stephen McMullin was raised in Woodstock, NB. He is a graduate of Atlantic Baptist College, Acadia University (B.A. Honours), Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (M.A.T.S.), and the University of New Brunswick (Ph.D.—Sociology). Dr. McMullin served as pastor for nearly 30 years at Waterville and Victoria Baptist Churches, Woodstock Baptist Church, and Main Street Baptist Church (now RiverCross Church). His ministries have emphasized evangelism and mission as well as the importance of community. Rev. Dr. Steve McMullin faithfully served at Acadia Divinity College as a Professor, occupying the Sheldon and Marjorie Fountain Chair of Evangelism and Mission. He also acted as Academic Dean of the College. He has written articles for both scholarly and popular journals and has presented numerous papers at academic conferences.
Rev. Gordon MacLeod (’77)
Gordon MacLeod was raised in North Sydney, Nova Scotia. In 1974 he entered Atlantic Baptist College. Upon graduation from ABC, he went to Gordon College where he completed a BA in Biblical and Theological Studies, followed by an M.Div at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary. He served in pastoral ministry for over 35 years at Hillsborough Baptist Church, First Baptist Moncton, Alta Vista Baptist Church in Ottawa and Lewisville Baptist Church, from which he retired after 21 years of service. He has also been a conference speaker, professor and taught on multiple trips to countries around the world.
